WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is designed for 40 graduate and postgraduate students in healthcare and/or research with an interest in clinical nutrition

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The course will cover the following areas:

Nutritional assessment
Estimation of nutritional requirements
Nutrient metabolism
Regulation of metabolic pathways
The impact of nutritional disorders on clinical status
Nutritional support and outcomes

Genetics and outcome

Nutrition in

   - gastrointestinal diseases
    - paediatrics
    - the elderly
Specific nutrition-related diseases
    - obesity
    - diabetes
    - osteoporosis

This course is intended to be very practical and, whenever possible, actual clinical cases will be used as a basis for discussion. Simultanously, patho-physiological backgrounds will be discussed.

A multiprofessional faculty of well-known experts will help you to explore the relationship between nutrition and disease and show you how to manage the resulting clinical problems.

HOW WILL YOU LEARN?

Learning is based on a multiprofessional problem solving approach

  • Each lecture will be discussed in small groups using specific clinical cases

  • Delegates will identify their own topics for further learning during the evenings

  • The outcomes of the problem-based learning sessions will be discussed the following morning in a plenary session

  • Patient demonstrations will be given

  • Participants are invited to give short presentations (5 min) involving their own experiences or/and research 

All delegates will be able to download additional literature to read and other course material when their application is accepted and confirmed.
