2001 - 18.30 The Royal Residence located right in the heart of the City is the perfect venue for this festive reception. Since the late middle ages until 1918, the Royal Residence has been the seat of the royal family of the Wittelsbacher. During their reign, the Residence became a centre of art and science. The building complex was repeatedly extended between the 16th and the 19th century. The Bavarian State continues this old tradition when celebrating stately receptions like this one in the various historic halls of the Residence. In the famous Kaisersaal and the Vierschimmelsäle you will be hosted by the Bavarian State Minister of Culture and Science. Tuesday, September 11th
2001 – 20.00 No more than 200 m below the German Museum and the Gasteig lies the Prater island, surrounded by the river Isar and the Isar Channel. It is a lovely piece of earth with green weeds and rustling waters but still located very centrally inside the city. In the beginning of the 19th century, already, the island, together with the Prater restaurant, and the luna park, was a very appreciated and attractive place to stay for the inhabitants of Munich. Over a period of some 100 years, the island was home of spirit, liquor and vinegar breweries. These have disappeared now but the leisure of visiting this little spot has remained. Since 1988, Prater island is now privately owned. On the former factory ground, a place of distinguished communication has emerged. A melting pot between art and business. The workshops, studios and exhibition spaces are now there for art and culture to prospere. The historical hall and cellar arches and the neatly kept atrium provide you with the accurate atmosphere for your congresses, presentations and banquets. Savour the International delicacies from the various buffets. Have a seat in the «Customs’ Hall» downstairs and listen to wellknown Jazz & Bossa Nova Classics of the Hothouset Trio. Upstairs, in the former «Bottling Hall» you won’t be able to resist the «Soul-Power» of Liz Howard and her band. Don’t miss the ESPEN PARTY – there are more surprises waiting for you!
